Dario Taraborelli, Giovanni Luca Ciampaglia and Moritz Stefaner’s interactive project Notabilia (2010) maps deletion discussions on Wikipedia. By analysing two samples of the 100 longest deletion discussions of the most popular internet encyclopaedia, Notabilia reveals that the collectively made decisions of what topics are suitable or unsuitable for inclusion, can be contradictory in that the notion of notability is inherently hard to define. The project also shows that an examination of the most popular and heated debates reveals some of the characteristics of the internal culture at Wikipedia, which is, for instance, the presence of much pop culture and conspiracy theory.
